Julie has been a member of NAWIC since March of 2013 and immediately joined the Board as a Director and has been elected this year to hold the position of Recording Secretary. Julie chairs the Scholarship Fund Raising Committee. Julie is employed with Westcor Companies as their Controller. and brings 24 years of construction industry experience to the organization. Julie enjoys spending time with her family and traveling as much as possible.
Kathy Hope, Vice President
Kathy has been a NAWIC member since 2013 and was elected to the Board for this term as Director. Kathy is our past Treasurer for NAWIC and currently serving as our Vice President. Kathy has over 18 years experience in financials and has been in the construction industry since 2006 working for an architectural firm. She joined her husbands business, M & K Heating & Cooling Services, in 2009 and has been growing the business every year. Kathy has been in Las Vegas since 1991. She grew up in South Texas and has been married to her husband Mike for 38 years, raising 3 children and spoiling 9 grandchildren. In her spare time Kathy loves to ride motorcycles and sewing.
Debbie Mello has been a member of the Las Vegas Chapter for 17 years and is currently serving her second term as Chapter President. She has been in the construction industry since 1981 and is currently working for Desert Lumber as a Sales Coordinator. Debbie started in a lumber mill in Northern California as a sawyer after serving in the US Army. Debbie moved to Las Vegas in 1994 and started at Houston Lumber. She remained there for 17 years before going to work for Desert Lumber. Debbie has served on the NAWIC Board in many roles and had previously served as president from 2002-2004. In her spare time Debbie works for the Las Vegas Motor Speed Way as part of the fire and safety team. Her family operates a tow truck during NASCAR events at the Speedway.
Virginia Fletes works as a tax supervisor for the Gallina, LLP Las Vegas office since 2014 and has over 20 years in Public Accounting experience. She is from California and graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She became a member of NAWIC, Las Vegas Chapter in December, 2015. She has been involved in construction, real estate and service industries throughout her career. Virginia has experience in both financial accounting and tax preparation services for businesses, individuals and trusts. She is licensed as CPA in California, Nevada and Hawaii.
Adriane originally joined NAWIC in 1988 and has recently re-committed to the organization. She has been employed at Assurance Ltd since 1989, working with contractors on both their insurance and bond needs. She is a member of the National Association of Surety Bond Producers as well as the local surety organization. Adriane has served in various roles in the past and is currently working on both the Membership and Education committee. She is a native to Las Vegas and enjoys the support, learning opportunities and connections with other women that work in various roles in the construction industry.
Charlie is new to NAWIC as of 2016 and was elected to the Board for this term as Corresponding Secretary. Charlie brings 28 years of experience in the construction and real estate industry. She is a licensed realtor since 2001 of Commercial & Residential Real Estate, a Property Manager, and is also the Director of Business Development for Roofing Southwest. She serves on various committees in several organizations throughout the community. Charlie enjoys helping others, spending time with her family, enjoys all types of sports and writes music.
Tanya’s involvement with NAWIC began the moment she attended a dinner meeting two years ago. She saw the value of being a member and immediately joined. Tanya is currently the Business Development Manager for Associated Builders and Contractors, wearing “many hats” which include coordinating memberships, strategic partnerships, events, and staying current on construction in Nevada. Her career began in the US Army, living in over 8 states in the US, as well as Korea. Tanya holds an OSHA 30 certification and has a deep passion for Construction history, a strong believe in safety, and a strong drive of creating a positive light for our industry. She enjoys volunteering, and making connections related to young adults and veterans with a desire to bridge education and job opportunities. Participating on the board at NAWIC is an honor for her and she is looking forward to connecting with strong women to educate others about NAWIC and the many roles of women in construction.
Rebecca began her career in Las Vegas at the Orleans Arena serving in the Premium Services department. She worked securing key sponsorships, corporate contracts, and providing event coordination for the premium services level at the venue. In 2014 she joined the team at the Nevada Subcontractors Association as the Business Development Manager. The Nevada Subcontractors Association, commonly referred to as the NSA, is a multi-trade construction association designed to protect and advance the rights of subcontractors in Nevada. In 2015 she was promoted to Executive Director of the NSA. Rebecca works diligently to expand the programming and educational features of the NSA membership in addition to the legislative advocacy the organization provides. A graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno, Rebecca holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration as well as a Bachelor of Art with a Fine Art Photography emphasis. She is actively involved in the community volunteering with multiple organizations as well as holding positions on various advisory councils for non-profit groups that assist individuals living in the Las Vegas community.
Karen has been a member of NAWIC for 1 year. She is an accounting assistant for Westcor Companies. This is her first year on the Board and her first experience on any Board. Karen is honored to be part of NAWIC and looks forward to learning as much as she can about NAWIC and what it takes to be involved as a Director on the Board. She has a strong desire to do all she can and learn all she can while serving as a Board member. Karen believes she’ll become more confident, as well as, knowledgeable by taking on this position. She’ll do her best and be available to do whatever is needed.
Kym Roundtree, Director
Kym has been a member of NAWIC since March 2016 and was elected to the Board for this term as a Director. She is a Proposal Coordinator for Ledcor Construction, Inc., North America’s most diverse construction company. An exemplary writer with 15 years of marketing experience, she provides technical writing support and identifies benefits and value-add content for proposal submissions.
Kym is new to the construction industry but has several years’ experience in the health care industry, leading marketing and communications efforts for HealthInsight, the Quality Innovation Network (QIN) for Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, and Utah. At HealthInsight, she led the Nevada branding efforts and planned and implemented the marketing and communications strategies for the 10th Scope of Work, primarily in health information technology. In addition, Kym was instrumental in the launch of, and continuing marketing efforts for, HealtHIE Nevada, the state’s first community-based health information exchange. Other achievements at HealthInsight included pioneering a Brand Ambassador program and an internal software training and usage program for the Nevada staff. Prior to HealthInsight, Kym enjoyed marketing roles at various software companies in New England, enabling the sales and business development teams to exceed their goals year over year. Kym earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business with a concentration in marketing at the University of Phoenix. She is currently enrolled in the Master’s Program for Integrated Marketing Communications at Eastern Michigan University.
Carolina has been a member of NAWIC for about one year. She is in the HR/Payroll Department for Westcor Companies. As one of the younger generation, never experiencing being on a Board of any organization, she is excited to be part of NAWIC. Her fresh outlook will be a huge contribution to NAWIC. Carolina is outgoing, fun, loves helping others, and loves people in general. She is ready to take on the challenge of being part of this dynamic organization, learning as much as she can about how NAWIC works and she can do to help enhance it.
