Julie has been a member of NAWIC since March of 2013 and immediately joined the Board as a Director and has been elected this year to hold the position of Recording Secretary. Julie chairs the Scholarship Fund Raising Committee. Julie is employed with Westcor Companies as their Controller. and brings 24 years of construction industry experience to the organization. Julie enjoys spending time with her family and traveling as much as possible.
Kathy Hope, Vice President
Kathy has been a NAWIC member since 2013 and was elected to the Board for this term as Director. Kathy is our past Treasurer for NAWIC and currently serving as our Vice President. Kathy has over 18 years experience in financials and has been in the construction industry since 2006 working for an architectural firm. She joined her husbands business, M & K Heating & Cooling Services, in 2009 and has been growing the business every year. Kathy has been in Las Vegas since 1991. She grew up in South Texas and has been married to her husband Mike for 38 years, raising 3 children and spoiling 9 grandchildren. In her spare time Kathy loves to ride motorcycles and sewing.
Debbie Mello has been a member of the Las Vegas Chapter for 17 years and is currently serving her second term as Chapter President. She has been in the construction industry since 1981 and is currently working for Desert Lumber as a Sales Coordinator. Debbie started in a lumber mill in Northern California as a sawyer after serving in the US Army. Debbie moved to Las Vegas in 1994 and started at Houston Lumber. She remained there for 17 years before going to work for Desert Lumber. Debbie has served on the NAWIC Board in many roles and had previously served as president from 2002-2004. In her spare time Debbie works for the Las Vegas Motor Speed Way as part of the fire and safety team. Her family operates a tow truck during NASCAR events at the Speedway.
Virginia Fletes works as a tax supervisor for the Gallina, LLP Las Vegas office since 2014 and has over 20 years in Public Accounting experience. She is from California and graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She became a member of NAWIC, Las Vegas Chapter in December, 2015. She has been involved in construction, real estate and service industries throughout her career. Virginia has experience in both financial accounting and tax preparation services for businesses, individuals and trusts. She is licensed as CPA in California, Nevada and Hawaii.
Adriane originally joined NAWIC in 1988 and has recently re-committed to the organization. She has been employed at Assurance Ltd since 1989, working with contractors on both their insurance and bond needs. She is a member of the National Association of Surety Bond Producers as well as the local surety organization. Adriane has served in various roles in the past and is currently working on both the Membership and Education committee. She is a native to Las Vegas and enjoys the support, learning opportunities and connections with other women that work in various roles in the construction industry.
Charlie is new to NAWIC as of 2016 and was elected to the Board for this term as Corresponding Secretary. Charlie brings 28 years of experience in the construction and real estate industry. She is a licensed realtor since 2001 of Commercial & Residential Real Estate, a Property Manager, and is also the Director of Business Development for Roofing Southwest. She serves on various committees in several organizations throughout the community. Charlie enjoys helping others, spending time with her family, enjoys all types of sports and writes music.
Nancy joined Nawic in January of 2017. She is an account manager for Cemex .She is the architectural representative, selling masonry products, stone, brick and concrete.
As a first time Director, Nancy is excited to support Nawic in any way she can. She has experience in fund raising and event planning. In the past she has worked for the Nevada Cancer Institute, supporting them with their development and fundraising.
Nancy has experience in this and other related industries in the Las Vegas area. Her and her husband and owned a granite and stone supply company from 2007-2013.
Audrey is a Realtor with Signature Real Estate Group. She is on a crusade to turn renters into home owners . There are some renters who have not yet purchased a home because they are uncomfortable taking on the obligation of a mortgage.
As a first time Director, Audrey is experienced in teaching Signature agents various real estate platforms that they need for a high level of proficiency, in order to be successful. She believes her opinion and feedback as a teacher is valuable information to the owners of Signature Real Estate Group.
Even though she has been a member for only two years, Audrey has many years of experience as a business owner and entrepreneur. She feels free and available to be there for her NAWIC sisters and looks forward to bonding with all of them, sharing her recent life stories.
Karen has been a member of NAWIC for 2 years. She is an accounting assistant for Westcor Companies. This is her second year on the Board. Karen is honored to be part of NAWIC and looks forward to learning as much as she can about NAWIC and what it takes to be involved as a Director on the Board. She has a strong desire to do all she can and learn all she can while serving as a Board member. Karen believes she’ll become more confident, as well as, knowledgeable by taking on this position. She’ll do her best and be available to do whatever is needed.
This is the first time that Lori has sat on a Board of Directors. She does however, have extensive experience volunteering for other organizations. She is a Sr. Project Engineer for The PENTA Building Group, which is a commercial General Contractor. She previously worked for Kitchell Contractors and has been in the construction industry for approximately 23 years.
Lori has several years of experience overseeing multi-million dollar projects. Her responsibilities on a daily basis include management of numerous people, budgeting and financial analysis, leadership and mentoring, quick decision making, making sure her team stays on track as well as having fun in the process.
Lori feels she can be a huge asset for Nawic and is excited to help out in any way she can.
Gerri has been a NAWIC NV member for at least 8 years. She works for MGM Resorts International Design as the Executive Director of Diversity and Contracts Administration. She has been in this role for 12 years. Gerri has extensive experience as the head of the contracts department, responsible for the management, preparation and negotiation of all construction and design contracts for capital improvement projects.
Gerri has also served on the board of the NV Chapter of the National Association of Minority Contractors – 8 years (NAMC NV). She served on the Green Valley Highlands HAO board of directors between 2006-2010 ( Henderson, NV). She has also served on the board of the IL Chapter of the National Association of Minority Architects for 6 years in the 80’s and 90s’ (NOMA, Chicago, IL) Last, but not least, she served on the board of directors for the Kennedy Jordan Manor Senior Housing Development group for the Sheldon Heights Church of Christ 3 years 2000-2003 (KJM, Chicago, IL)
Gerri is an active, committed member of this NAWIC chapter. Her passion towards the built environment began in high school and her career long commitment ( 30 years) to the development and advancement of women in design and construction. She pledges her service, time, talent and leadership skills to furthering the cause of NAWIC.
